FOX 2 Detroit featured the eighth annual Rugiero Casino Royale and helped introduce a wider Metro Detroit audience to the fundraiser’s mission.
Casino Royale benefits diabetes research at the University of Michigan and honors the memory of Antonio Rugiero Sr., founder of the Rugiero family restaurant business. After Antonio Sr. passed away from complications related to diabetes, his family created the fundraiser to celebrate his life while helping researchers work toward better treatments and a cure.
The FOX 2 feature highlighted the entertainment and energy that have made Casino Royale a recognizable community event. Guests enjoy professional casino-style gaming, food, music, auctions and opportunities to win prizes, but the most important part of the evening is the impact created through their participation.
The fundraiser is supported by volunteers, sponsors, local businesses, restaurant partners and individuals who believe in the importance of diabetes research. Their collective support allows the Rugiero Promise Foundation to continue its partnership with the University of Michigan and provide resources for research and education.
This media coverage helped the Foundation extend its message beyond the event itself, raising awareness about diabetes and encouraging more members of the community to become involved.
