Seeing Where the Money Goes

The Rugiero Promise Foundation has always believed that its supporters should be able to understand the impact made possible by their generosity. In 2024, the Foundation created a special opportunity for sponsors to go behind the scenes at Michigan Medicine and experience firsthand where their contributions go.

Hour Detroit highlighted the Foundation’s exclusive “Where the Money Goes” reception at Michigan Medicine’s North Campus Research Complex. During the experience, supporters were invited to engage directly with the scientists and medical professionals working to advance diabetes research, treatment and education.

The event provided an inside look at the research supported through the Antonio Rugiero Diabetes Research Fund. It also gave attendees an opportunity to learn more about the scientific process, the challenges researchers are working to solve and the potential for new discoveries to improve the lives of people living with Type 1 and Type 2 diabetes.

Although the annual Casino Royale gala was paused that year, the Foundation continued its mission by strengthening the connection between its supporters and research partners. The experience demonstrated that every donation represents more than a financial contribution. It represents additional resources, new possibilities and renewed hope for individuals and families affected by diabetes.
